Benefits of Learning an Instrument
With all of the things we have packed into our lives, doesn't it seem like something is still missing but you can't quite figure it out?
This one thing is music! Although we have access to all kinds of music online at anytime, learning music and listening to it are two different things.
Somewhere along this busy highway of life, many of us, especially kids, have lost something much needed...slowing things down.
Patience, creativity and the taking time out to think things through have been replaced with instant access to almost everything.
When it does come time to where we need patience for important things, we feel frustrated and we don't know why.
Many parents have expressed to us the wonderful results such as being more patient with the elderly, doing better in school and making better decisions.
Music Throughout The Years
If you listen to music from different decades, you can still understand what they were feeling and experiencing by listening to those songs years later.
The creativity that comes from expressing yourself through music of both good and bad times is vital for a person to grow. It's something that will always be there whenever you need it.
Looking back, each decade gave us a reason for new music and
expressing the feeling of the times we lived in.
Big bands in the 40's such as Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Cab Calloway were just as popular and needed as today's musical artists.
Throughout the decades, musicians developed Jazz, Swing, Rock-n-Roll,
Punk, New Wave and more!
The music from the 80's is still enjoyed today, so it's not surprising that it's used in so many movies. Why were the 80's music so much fun? It's because it reflected a great positive time period!
Years ago, music lessons were given in school as part of the curriculum and it was fun to find out which instrument you would like to learn!
Slowly however, the school music programs were replaced by other activities such as Football, Soccer and Field Hockey.
Music, being part of the Arts like dance and ballet were
then taught in homes and small studios. As our world got faster and more things
filled up our time, music lessons got left behind.
That's okay! There's room for music too!
Music is just as important as other activities, if not more because it's beneficial for learning, relaxing and celebrating!
Your Options and Good Practices
If you've never been on Zoom or other online meeting platform, it's very easy to download the app and we'll be glad to help guide you.
Now that things are starting to open up again, you can let us know if it would be better to have lessons online or have a teacher to come directly to you!
If you choose to have your lessons at your home, we still suggest that each student wash their hands before and after the lesson as well.
Your instrument should also be wiped
down as a good habit for normal everyday uses and before
and after each lesson.
Even with vaccinations, we will respect your request for our teachers to use masks as well.
To reassure you, our teachers have always sanitized their hands before and after each lesson, so we've already been in good habits!
Best Ages To Start Your Instrument...
For in-person lessons, our guidelines have always been at least 5 years of age for piano lessons and around 8 years old for guitar.
If you have a child younger than these ages, there are several reasons why starting younger usually does not work well.
Remember, you want the experience to be great from the start, so give us a call to explain why and we'll help you prepare before they turn the right age.
You can start at any age! No matter if you've had lessons in the past or not. Our teachers have fun easy methods to get you playing your favorite songs in no time!
New Online Students!
We teach all ages from kids to adults!
For very young students having online lessons, we suggest at least a year of lessons from the suggested ages above mentioned.
If you would like to start live online lessons with one of our teachers, we'll waive the $25 registration fee!
If you have any questions, or would like to sign up for piano or guitar lessons please call our office: (856) 662-6855.

Can Play Piano!
Why Are In-Home Music Lessons
Most music students will tell you that warmup time before a lesson is extremely important. It helps students relax so they can be more focused during the lesson.
Having lessons in your own home is the only way to get quality warmup time before a lesson -- insuring that your son or daughter is completely relaxed, focused and ready to learn.
What Will You Learn?
1. Every Student Will Learn How To Read Sheet Music!
While there are a few styles of music that don't require written music, it would be very difficult for most music students to gain any degree of proficiency without a standard form of written music notation.
Using today's most advanced and sophisticated learning techniques, every student at the Cherry Hill Academy of Piano & Guitar will learn how to read standard music notation.
Learning how to read sheet music provides each student with the ability to communicate with other musicians using the same musical language!
2.) Learning Rhythm!
Every student is different. Some students excel at rhythms in written form, while other students learn rhythm by feel. The goal of our teachers here at the Cherry Hill Academy is to help each student excel in their preferred method of study and style of music.
3.) Music Theory!
Music theory is the study of written music. When a student understands music theory, it means that they understand the language of music. All of our teachers combine practical music theory into every lesson.
