Yes, We Are Open!
Hello everyone, every week it seems that we are adjusting to the new guidelines about the Coronavirus and we just wanted to touch base to let you know we have some very good news for you!
All of our teachers have made the effort to switch to online video lessons using platforms such as
Skype, Zoom, Face Time and Google Duo!
If you've never been on Skype or another platform, it's very easy to download the app and we'll be glad to help guide you.
Our students are the best! Thank you for your kind words and support of our teachers, we realize that they have become like one of the family and they appreciate you taking the time out to make sure switching to online lessons worked so well!
Don't worry, we're sure things will return to everyone's normal routine before you know it.

Benefits of Learning an Instrument
With all of the things we have packed into our lives, doesn't it seem like something is still missing but you can't quite figure it out?
This one thing is music! Although we have access to all kinds of music online at anytime, learning music and listening to it are two different things.
This one activity of learning an instrument has been proven to have a very positive effect on all the other things you do throughout your life.
Somewhere along this busy highway of life, many of us, especially
kids, have lost something much needed...slowing things down.
The ability of patience, creativity and the taking time out to think things through have been replaced the instant access to almost everything. When it does come to a time where we need these important things, we feel frustrated and we don't know why.
While many of these activities have been great, music will give your life balance. Many parents have expressed to us the wonderful results such as being more patient with the elderly, doing better in school and making better decisions.
Enjoying music from all eras is also educational! Finding out about how Jazz started or learning about the first pianos, then called Piano Forte's, opens up a new world!
Music has helped both kids and adults express their feelings without having to say a word through playing music. You can forget your troubles, and get that creativity out like nothing else.
Music Over The Years
If you listen to music from different decades, you can still understand what they were felling and experiencing listening to those songs years later.
The creativity that comes from expressing yourself through music of both good and bad times and is vital for a person to grow. It's something that should always be there whenever they need it.
Years ago when we didn't have so many things to devote our focus on, there was a time where learning an instrument was one of the most anticipated things to look forward to.
Looking back, each decade gave us a reason for new music and
expressing the feeling of the times we lived in.
There were many big bands in the 40's to look up to such as Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway and more!
Years later, musicians developed Jazz, Swing, Rock-n-Roll, Punk, New Wave and more! Why were the 80's music so much fun? It's because it reflected a great positive time period.
Looking Into The
The music from the 80's is still enjoyed today, it's not surprising that the new DC movie coming out this summer is called "Wonder Woman 1984". I believe that once things get back to normal, we'll have another great period of history to celebrate with new uplifting music!
Years ago, music lessons were given in school as part of the curriculum and it was fun to find out which instrument you would like to learn!
Slowly however, the school music programs were replaced by other activities such as Football, Soccer and Field Hockey.
Music, being part of the Arts like dance and ballet were then taught in homes and small studios. As our world got faster and more things filled up our time, music lessons became last on the list.
Now is the best time to include music lessons in your life. Don't worry, things will come back to normal and with sports and other activities, but now you may find music will have room among those activities and will be well worth it!
Future Options and Good Practices
Once things start to return to normal again, we will contact everyone to see who would like to continue having their lesson online or would like your teacher to come directly to you!
If you choose to have your lesson at your home, we still suggest that each student wash their hands before and after the lesson as well. Your instrument should also be wiped down with sanitary wipes as a good habit for normal everyday uses and before and after each lesson.
To reassure you, our teachers have always sanitized their hands before and after each lesson, so we've already been in good habits!
If you or your child has had at least a year of Piano or Guitar lessons and would like live online lessons with one of our teachers, we'll waive the $25 registration fee!
If you have any questions, or would like to sign up for online lessons please call our office: (856) 662-6855.
Monday through Friday 10:00am-8:00pm

Why Are In-Home Music Lessons
Most music students will tell you that warmup time before a lesson is extremely important. It helps students relax so they can be more focused during the lesson.
Having lessons in your own home is the only way to get quality warmup time before a lesson -- insuring that your son or daughter is completely relaxed, focused and ready to learn.
What Will You Learn?
1. Every Student Will Learn How To Read Sheet Music!
While there are a few styles of music that don't require written music, it would be very difficult for most music students to gain any degree of proficiency without a standard form of written music notation.
Using today's most advanced and sophisticated learning techniques, every student at the Cherry Hill Academy of Piano & Guitar will learn how to read standard music notation.
Learning how to read sheet music provides each student with the ability to communicate with other musicians using the same musical language!
2.) Learning Rhythm!
Every student is different. Some students excel at rhythms in written form, while other students learn rhythm by feel. The goal of our teachers here at the Cherry Hill Academy is to help each student excel in their preferred method of study and style of music.
3.) Music Theory!
Music theory is the study of written music. When a student understands music theory, it means that they understand the language of music. All of our teachers combine practical music theory into every lesson.
