What's Slowing You Down

The one thing that will slow you down in the beginning is the left hand chords. Don't worry, this is normal.

  • For a while, your right hand, which plays the melody line, will be ahead of your left hand -- which is why I start you out with 2-chords songs and gradually increase to 3-chord and then 4-chord songs. This approach will keep your frustration level to a minimum.

  • A quick daily chord review, like the exercises in this lesson, will help you make quick, smooth chord changes.

  • There is a way, however, to play more complicated songs with 6 or more chords very early in your piano education. I will gradually introduce this method over the next few lessons!
