Lesson #10 - Rhythmical Melody
G Position

Rhythm & Melody

The key to playing a more complex rhythmical melody line is to simply listen to very small portions of a song at any one time.

Your Instructor

Guy Faux

Teaching simple songs gives students the opportunity to learn more complex chords and rhythms without a whole lot of hand movement.

  • Once you get comfortable with 2- and 3-chord songs, then you can start learning the songs that you really want to play -- and that will be much sooner than you might think.

How To Learn Songs!

In this lesson you'll take the rhythms you learned in the previous lesson and apply them to a more complex melody line.

  • The general layout of this lesson is how you will be learning songs starting in Lesson 11.

Steps 2 through 5 will teach 1 measure of melody along with the chords associated with that measure.

  • As your skills grow, you'll gradually progress to learning 2 measures at a time, and then 3 and 4 measures at a time.

  • Learning small portions of a song will reduce frustration and increase your productivity!
