My second piano composition was "A Quiet Summer Day", which I wrote in about 30 minutes. This was a time in my life when I was really starting to get comfortable with major and minor chords.

• I was going to college for music during the day and playing in a rock band at night.

The songs that we were playing in the band weren't that difficult but since I was fairly new to chords, you could say that I was getting a crash course in chord charts and learning songs right off the recording, which I had never done.
